Welcome to the new website of a very new museum
***OPENING 2012***
The Trustees are working very hard on collating artifacts, putting together exhilarating exhibitions, as well as restoring a listed building to house Towcester Museum & Visitor Centre.
It is anticipated that the Ground Floor of the building - comprising of the Visitor Centre and a Temporary Exhibition Area will open in early 2012 (with the opening of the upstairs Museum taking place later in the year).

Exhibitions
The new Museum comes to life with three interactive exhibitions enabling you to undertake a 'journey through time' spanning 5,000 years of Towcester's history.
The first and current exhibition, starts you off in a timeline through history tracing the origins of Towcester from the Stone Age through the Bronze Age and Iron Ages right to the end of the Roman occupation!
Artefacts
As well as our exhibitions the Museum also collects, restores and preserves many artefacts from Towcester and its surrounding villages.
Our dedicated team of restorers and archivists are constantly saving and growing the collection.
Many of the artefacts acquired are used within our exhibitions.
Towcester
Towcester is the oldest town in Northamptonshire and one of the oldest continuously occupied settlements in Britain. Therefore Towcester is very much a 'microcosm of the history of England' with significant national events being reflected in the history of the town.
This area will give you information on the history of Towcester, what is happening in Towcesterday today, and also lots of useful web links.
